The Angathe Umunthu Club, under Angathe Charitable Organisation, on Tuesday 02nd of April 2026 conducted an award presentation ceremony recognizing outstanding academic performance among learners at Mchokera Primary School.
The event, held from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM, celebrated learners from Standard 1 to Standard 6 who consistently ranked in the top three positions in their respective classes. Organizers said the initiative is part of ongoing efforts to promote academic excellence while supporting learners’ overall development.

Speaking during the ceremony, Angathe Project Officer Maureen Banda highlighted the organization’s commitment to nurturing well-rounded individuals. She emphasized the importance of education, integrity, sports, and creativity in shaping future leaders, while also providing background on the vision and mission of the Angathe Umunthu Club.
As part of the awards, learners received various educational materials, including exercise books for both lower and upper classes. Mathematical sets were presented to learners from Standards 4 to 6 who maintained first position in their classes. Sweets were also distributed, both as refreshments and as incentives during interactive question sessions.
In addition to academic rewards, the organization donated a netball to the school. The ball was officially handed over through the community chairperson to the headteacher, symbolizing a commitment to promoting sports and physical wellbeing among learners.
Organizers noted that the activity aimed not only to reward excellence but also to instill discipline, consistency, and a competitive spirit among pupils. The initiative also sought to strengthen community engagement and encourage learners to pursue greater opportunities.
The ceremony concluded on a positive note, with learners expressing excitement and motivation to continue performing well in their studies.
