Menstrual Hygiene Day

On May 29, Angathe proudly joined hands with dedicated partners and passionate community members to commemorate Menstrual Hygiene Day, a global call to action to break the silence surrounding menstruation and promote access to safe, hygienic practices for every girl and woman. This initiative is at the heart of our mission to empower young girls and uplift vulnerable communities with dignity and knowledge. Far too often, menstruation is treated as a taboo subject, leading to shame, school absenteeism, and long-term educational and health setbacks for girls.

Through our awareness sessions, open discussions, and the distribution of reusable sanitary kits, we created a safe space where girls could learn, ask questions, and support one another. These engagements not only provided essential supplies, but more importantly, instilled confidence and a sense of pride in the girls—reminding them that their periods should never be a barrier to participation, growth, or achievement. By working collaboratively with schools, local leaders, and our partner organizations, we are helping to build a future where menstrual hygiene is normalized, respected, and supported at every level of society. This is more than just a one-day campaignit is part of a larger movement to protect the rights, health, and dignity of girls across our communities.
